A few months ago Eddie was commissioned to make a full bedroom suite of art deco style furniture and this is what he told us about it:
"The suite consisted of a king size bed, two matching bedside cabinets, a chest of drawers and a dressing table with matching stool.
The furniture was mainly constructed in maple with sycamore, utile and ebony inlays. The chest of drawers has soft close drawer runners fitted on the solid dovetail drawers with ebony, sycamore and utile inlays and is finished with hand carved wooden handles. The bedside tables, which match the chest of drawers, are finished with traditional wooden drawer runners.
The bed is fitted with beech slats as the mattress base, and is extremely heavy due to its solid maple and utile construction. However it has been constructed in such a way that it is easily taken apart for initial installation and subsequent removal when needed.
The dressing table, with its fan shaped mirror has a matching stool which is in keeping with the rest of the suite.
As this was a big project, and in order to be able to fit it in around my other commissions I employed the help of another cabinet maker called Alan Pennington. Alan a young maker of 8 years in the trade and is especially experienced in veneer work. His knowledge was very handy when creating this challenging suite of furniture.
Needless to say, here at EB Furniture we think this is a stunning set of bedroom furniture which appeals to certain peoples taste! I was extremely pleased (as were my clients) with the outcome of this project and hope you enjoy looking at the following images in the bedroom furniture part of the gallery."
Thanks Eddie, thanks for telling us about this exciting project it really is a magnificent!
