Andrea Stemmer

Andrea Stemmer lives and works in Brixham in South Devon where she designs and makes furniture to improve, complement and enchant people’s lives and environments.

With a passionate and often exciting career in furniture spanning over 30 years Andrea has worked on commercial interior projects and public commissions designing furniture for the high end retail market and designing and making bespoke pieces for individual clients. She also supplies the local market in Brixham with upcycled furniture. Being an active member of the local community of Brixham has become another passion of Andreas’. Being German and coming from a family of engineers the desire for usefulness, smooth functionality and longevity is a given.  Alongside these objectives Andrea thrives to create pieces that are imbued with friendliness, elegance and simplicity.

As much as enjoying thinking up products for everybody and everyday use Andrea likes to tackle  private commissions as they are a face to face collaboration with the end user and of course site-specific and therefore unique.

Inspiration for new projects ranges from research into the beautiful traditional wedge joints and their integration into her work to the discovery of a new niche product or through an exciting client brief.
