Richard has been designing and making furniture since studying furniture making at Rycotewood College in the early 1990’s. Over the last 20 years Richard’s passion for wood has seen him involved in diverse projects from green oak timber framed building to bespoke and unique pieces of fine furniture. He draws on these different skills to create timeless designs for his discerning clients.
It’s all in the detail… Richard's style often sees him incorporate traditional joinery for decorative effect and structural integrity. Through wedged tenons, dovetails, surfaces that are tactile and shimmer in the light, furniture that is a pleasure to own and use. Furniture that will last a lifetime. Richard is inspired by the simplicity of Shaker furniture, the honesty of English Arts and Crafts furniture as well as traditional vernacular country furniture.
He brings all these influences together to create timeless classics. All of Richard’s bespoke furniture is hand made in his own workshop in Hemyock, Devon on the beautiful Blackdown Hills.
"I specialise in contemporary country furniture and handmade kitchens using the tools of traditional cabinet making.
The majority of my work is bespoke and made to order from individual commissions. Developing an unique piece of furniture can be a highly enjoyable process and, with over 20 years of experience, I am more than happy to guide you through each step."
